According to USA NEWS BREAKING AbbVie said Tuesday that longtime executive Robert Michel will be the company's new CEO, replacing Richard Gonzalez.

Gonzalez's career spans over four decades, primarily within the pharmaceutical sector. He joined Abbott Laboratories, now AbbVie, in 1977, where he held various roles of increasing responsibility. His tenure at Abbott included positions in research and development, operations, and international management.

In 2007, Gonzalez became President and Chief Operating Officer of Abbott, playing a pivotal role in shaping the company's strategic direction and global expansion. Under his leadership, Abbott experienced significant growth and success in developing innovative healthcare solutions.

Following the spin-off of AbbVie from Abbott in 2013, Gonzalez assumed the role of Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of AbbVie. During his tenure, AbbVie achieved remarkable milestones, including the successful launch and commercialization of blockbuster drugs such as Humira, a leading treatment for autoimmune diseases.
